Forgetting Sarah Marshall was released in 2008 as a comedy that deals with a long term relationship breakup. There are many famous actors that I recognize in there such as Jason Segel (Marshall in How I Met Your Mother), Mila Kunis (70′s show), Kristen Bell and Russell Brand. The cast is already enough to warrant a view for those of you that just want to turn their brain off for the day.
The story of the movie pretty much revolves around a guy called Peter who was recently dumped by his girlfriend from a 5-year old relationship. Not knowing how to deal with it, he travels to Hawaii and coincidentally meets his ex there. Throughout the movie, he deals and faces his break up.
Without spoiling too much, the story is pretty predictable but the things that make it unique is the genuine emotions and feelings that the actors portrays. Many people that is going through a break up can connect with the characters in the movie and above all else, I really hope it does make them feel better in the end (I wish I knew about it earlier).
As a comedy, it is heavy with sex jokes. If you want full frontal nudity and flashes of nudity scenes, then this is the movie for you. For me, it was kind of disturbing but it was okay since they didn’t emphasize on it. To be honest, I didn’t really laugh that much during the movie but that is because I think the movie might be too mature for me in terms of content (I like retarded jokes).
Overall, this movie is a good and enjoyable experience to watch. There is a lot of heart warming moments and moments that you wish or been through. The music that accompanies the main character is unique to hear and the dialogue and relationship the characters have in the movie feels real. So if you want to rent a movie out this weekend, then I recommend you to try Forgetting Sarah Marshall, especially if you’re going through a break up.
